DIVISION WINE FROM OREGON AT BYWARD WINE MARKET

Following our fun Pop-Up Wine Bar event last month with Rosewood Wines, we wanted to schedule another wine party ASAP, so we’re excited to announce that it will be with one of our very favourite American producers, Division Wine Co from Portland, Oregon!

If you’ve been following along with us throughout the pandemic, you’ve certainly heard about these guys a few times. We did a Capital Wine feature and Zoom tasting last year with co-founder and co-winemaker Tom Monroe, but this time it will be Kate Norris, the other half of Division visiting us for an in-person wine party!

Tom Monroe and Kate Norris.

In 2010 Tom and Kate started the South East Wine Collective, an urban winery and wine bar where they housed their own brand, Division Wine Company, but was also home to several other startup micro wineries. A very cool collaborative venture that quickly gained them notoriety with wine drinking consumers, restaurants, and also other producers and introducing them to some of Oregon’s top grape growers.

Division doesn’t own any vineyards themselves, but they have long-term contracts with some of the very best vineyards in Oregon. And they only work with pesticide-free, organic or biodynamic vineyards, making wine in a natural, low-intervention way. But don’t expect something super funky or experimental, they are still making classic Loire and Burgundy inspired wines, but they all have a complex raw edge that makes them so beautiful and interesting. For more on Division, click here to check out my post from last year.

Kate will be joining us at The Byward Wine Market inside Lollo Restaurant next Thursday June 9th for an evening of their wines in 2 separate events:

1) Seated Ticketed Tasting:
6pm-7pm Kate will guide us through a 3 year vertical of their Chardonnay ‘Un’, as well as taste the latest vintage of their Gamay ‘Lutte’, Pinot Noir ‘Un’, Pinot Noir ‘Trois’, and new red blend called ‘Salmagundi’. Some snacks will also be served with the wine. This is going to be a lot of fun because Kate is super cool, and is a huge value for just $50 per person.

2) Division Pop-Up Wine Bar:
7pm-9pm Once the seated tasting is over we’ll open the doors to the public and just sell Division wines by the glass and you can hang and chat and taste some more wines. No tickets or reservations necessary, just come by after 7pm (as doors will be locked for the seated tasting before that).

To buy your tickets for the seated tasting, please visit the Byward Wine Market website and order online. We’ll have a master list of those registered for when you arrive.
